Winning entry sealed with a kiss for West Lakes family
Five days after the draw, West Lakes grandparents and their two adult grandchildren have been revealed as the owners of Adelaide’s mystery X Lotto’s division one winning entry.
The Adelaide private syndicate’s entry was one of the nine division one winning entries nationally in X Lotto draw 3887 on Saturday 20 October 2018 and the only division one winning entry from South Australia. Each entry took home a division one prize of $443,884.30.
The winning entry also won division four twice, bolstering the private syndicate’s total prize to $443,963.50.
While the winning entry was registered to an Easiplay Club Card, the contact details were not up to date, so we had no way of contacting the winner to break that life changing news.
However, today the family presented their winning ticket to us and revealed how they discovered the winning news.
“My grandfather is the mastermind of the syndicate. He puts it on for us, but we all chip in a little bit every week,” a member of the
family syndicate explained.
“It’s the regular numbers he has been using for about 30 years now. Here they are! They’ve come up trumps!
“They are specific numbers that he selected a few years ago and we’ve just gone with those.
“There are four of us, our grandparents and us two grandkids.
“Every Saturday, my grandfather checks the numbers. It is his little ritual. He sits down with a pen and paper and checks them bit by bit.
“He knew we had won Saturday night but he didn’t tell us until the following morning. He kept it a surprise.
“We went over the following morning and he gave us a little kiss on our forehead and said ‘Here you go! Six numbers!’”
“It was a wonderful surprise!”
The happy syndicate member confessed their family hadn’t had any outlandish celebrations, yet.
“It still hasn’t sunk in. We’ve just been happy to be in each other’s company!” he revealed.
“We haven’t gone out anywhere or done anything outlandish or anything. We’ve just enjoyed time together and with this win we can continue to do that!”
When asked how the syndicate members planned to spend their share of the windfall, the happy winner revealed it would help set up the family for the future.
“I guess we’ll just take care of some of our debts and set ourselves up nicely. I’m sure I’ll be investing in something.
“I’m just thrilled our grandparents can live comfortably now which is their aim.”
“We’ll just see where we can take it from there!”
The 18-game marked entry was purchased at West Lakes Lotteries Kiosk, K11 West Lakes Shopping Centre, Brebner Drive, West Lakes.
Jasmine Colangelo, team member at West Lakes Lotteries Kiosk, said she was thrilled the outlet had sold its first division one winning entry in over a year.
“We are so excited to have sold another winner!” she exclaimed.
“We’ve sold 17 division one winning entries over the years, but the last one was in February 2017 so it’s been a little while.
“We’ve dressed up and decorated the store with balloons and posters to celebrate with all of our customers!
“We are so pleased for our winners – we wish them all the best with their prize!”
