A South Granville man had a galactic close call after scoring $3.75 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw by nearly purchasing a ticket for a different draw by mistake.

The western Sydney resident held one of the eight division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4481, drawn Saturday 29 June 2024. Each entry took home $3.75 million.

The gleeful man was still soaring with excitement when we called to confirm his newfound fortune.

“I’m still orbiting the moon!” he cheered.

“I actually woke up super early Sunday morning and checked my ticket.

“I’m looking at the ticket and I’m going, ‘Hang on! Hang on! I’ve got six numbers!’. I had to put my glasses on, and I checked it nearly one hundred times.

“Then I checked online because I knew I had won something but wasn’t sure how much.

“Then I saw it. There were eight winners, and we had each won $3.75 million. Holy shivers! I still can’t believe it

“My birthday is coming up soon so it’s an amazing birthday present to myself.

“I usually play Powerball but decided to try my chances in Saturday Lotto because it was a Megadraw.

“When I bought my ticket, the newsagency team member initially thought I meant one for last Saturday’s draw. Thank gosh we cleared that up!”

When asked how he planned to use his Lotto loot, the New South Welshman shared he was too stunned to make any immediate decisions.

“I’m not sure exactly what I’ll do but I’m going to be smart with it,” he said.

“I think I’ll put most of it in a term deposit and leave a bit out to help myself.

“I also want to help others.”

The 50-game QuickPick was purchased from Dellwood News, Shop 11, 12 Dellwood Street, South Granville.

Dellwood News owners Craig and Julie Pettitt said they were over the moon to have sold a division one winning entry.

“You beauty! It was about time!” Craig laughed.

“We had our first division one winner about 16 years ago not long after we took over the newsagency.

“We’re very excited and very happy for the winning customer.

“Congratulations to them and thank you for your support!”
