A mix of family birthdates to favourite footy numbers have helped a Morphettville man score a $900,000 bounty in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw.

The Adelaide resident held one of the six division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4289, drawn Saturday 27 August 2022. Each entry pocketed a division one prize of $919,703.64.

The South Australian was oblivious to his good fortune until we contacted him yesterday.

“I hope this isn’t a joke!” he yelled.

“We’ve just walked in from the shops. I can’t believe it! Here, you’ll have to tell my wife.”

“We’re in shock! This is very overwhelming!” his wife added.

“I play every Saturday and have been using the same set of numbers for years. They’re our birthdates, footy numbers and things like that. It’s our special numbers that did it for us,” the winner explained.

“We still work, but we’re on the verge of retirement. This might just kick us over.

“It’s going to make a huge difference.

“We can’t wait to work less and book a holiday!”
