A Sunshine Coast man confesses he almost missed the fact he’d won $1 million in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw, at first believing he’d merely bagged a minor prize.

“I was lounging on the couch after coming home from a night out and decided to check my entry,” the winner explained when an we called to confirm the windfall.

“It was just one of those moments where I swiped and saw a few numbers and thought, ‘oh, maybe I won a hundred dollars.’

“Then I double checked and checked once more... I think my jaw hit the floor at that point.

“You never expect to win division one, so it certainly ruffles your feathers when you realise it’s happened.

“I called the family together and said, ‘guys, you better brace yourselves!’

“It’s going to change our lives. I’ll be able to do some work on the house, book an overseas holiday and help the kids prepare for the future too.
