Ten North Shore workmates share $1.4 million TattsLotto win
After playing lottery games together for 15 years, 10 North Shore workmates are now happily planning how they’ll spend their $1.4 million TattsLotto win.
The Victorian players held one of the seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4237, drawn Saturday 26 February. Each division one winning entry scored a $1,442,537.03 prize.
When speaking with our team this morning, the syndicate leader confessed he was in a state of disbelief about their good fortune.
“F***, oh my god! That’s life changing,” he yelled.
“This is a private work syndicate shared between 10 work colleagues and we’ve been playing a System 9 entry every 10 weeks for about 15 years — it’s insane.
“Since the draw, there’s been a lot of talk and speculation on how much we’d won! One of the members heard that there was a division one winning entry from the outlet we purchased from.
“I’m currently on holiday away from home and we couldn’t check our ticket until now. I was contemplating leaving early to check my ticket, but we worked around it. I can’t wait to tell them!
“My family is currently the only ones who know, and we can’t believe it. It’s one of those things you expect to happen to others, but never yourself. It’s just a dream come true.
“We’re probably going to return home as soon as possible. It’s wonderful and we can’t thank you enough.”
When asked how his colleagues and himself planned to spend their share of the lottery fortune, the hard-working Geelong man said it would significantly help everyone in smaller ways.
“I haven’t been able to confirm the win with everyone, but I know for a fact the prize will be a tremendous help,” he shared.
“It’s put my family eight years ahead of our mortgage payments which is amazing. If we have a bit of money left over, we might purchase a new caravan and travel around Australia!”
Their life-changing System 9 winning entry was purchased at Corner Exchange Lotto, 139 Separation Street, Geelong North.
Corner Exchange Lotto manager Jon Cameron said the division one winning entry has brought immense joy to the community.
“We’re so thrilled to have sold a division one winning entry to 10 locals after a rough couple of years with COVID,” he said.
“It’s been two years since we last sold a division one winning entry, so it feels great to have sold another this year! This brings us to 16 division one winning entries over 34 years.
“Congratulations to our 10 winners, and we hope it brings great happiness into their lives. We have a gift of champagne ready for them come collect and enjoy!”
