We have finally got in touch with Mackay’s newest millionaire to confirm his life-changing win of more than $1 million in last weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto.

The Mackay resident held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3899, drawn Saturday 1 December 2018. Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,004,705.27.

Despite the winning entry being registered to an online account, we had been unable to contact the region’s newest millionaire for over a week.

When we finally heard from the man we’ve been searching for this morning, he revealed he’d been ignoring our phone calls.

“I thought it was insurance mobs bothering me, so I wasn’t answering the phone,” he revealed.

“I put in for one of those comparison quotes and they haven’t stopped calling me!”

The man explained when he saw in the news that Golden Casket had been searching for a millionaire in Mackay, he thought he’d better check his online account.

“I saw something on Facebook about a Mackay person who wouldn’t answer their phone, so I had a look at the app and realised I better call Golden Casket back,” he explained.

“I didn’t think it was real!

“I thought, oh my god! I think I’ve won $1 million dollars!

“It was absolutely unreal.”

The man said he was contemplating an early retirement and needed some time to decide exactly how he’ll spend his $1 million windfall.

“I will probably pay off the house,” he said.

“I wouldn’t mind learning to sail and buying a boat.

“I could imagine sailing off into the sunset.

“This has definitely changed my life, no more financial stress for me.”

The winning entry was purchased online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
