Sharing the love: Generous Wodonga grandmother to surprise family with $1.4 million TattsLotto win!
A generous Wodonga grandmother can’t wait to surprise her entire family with a $1.4 million win after this afternoon discovering she’d won division one in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.
The regional Victorian held one of the seven division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4237 on 26 February 2022. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,428,571.43.
Sharing her excitement with us, the woman explained she’d only just made the stunning discovery.
“I’ve just checked my ticket. It’s amazing,” she giggled.
“My grandson texted me this morning. He said, ‘You’d better check your TattsLotto ticket. They’re looking for a winner who bought their ticket from Birallee’.
“I thought, ‘Ok, I’ll check my ticket then’. But I’ve been playing these same special numbers for a long time, so I never expected to win.
“When I realised I’d won, I screamed my head off and started running around the house like a crazy person.
“I’m already happy in my life. I’m just grateful to be here. Every day’s a blessing, but this reinforces that if you stick at it, a big win can come your way!
“My family will share this prize. I have lots of kids and grandkids. It’s going to make a lot of people very happy.
“We’ve had a pretty rough trot, so it’s great to have a bit of joy come our way.
“I just told my husband he can retire soon, and he couldn’t believe it. He’s been working hard all his life, so he can spend time resting now. It’s amazing!
“Once he’d retired, we always planned to buy a little campervan and travel around Australia. But now we can look at buying something a bit better and do it in style.”
The winning woman purchased her entry at Birallee Lotto, Shop 16B Birallee Shopping Centre, 3 Birallee Place, Wodonga.
Birallee Lotto owner Marlene Smedley said it was great news that a big win had landed in the region.
“I received the message on Saturday night informing me we’d sold a division one winning entry, and I was over the moon,” she explained.
“Saturday was my last day working before retiring from Birallee Lotto after 36 years, so it was a fabulous way to end it.
“I’d been joking that I was bound to sell a division one winning entry in Lotto’s $10 million draw before I retired, and I did!
“There’s so much buzz in the store this week. Our customers are so happy about the win. They’ve been busy checking their tickets, but we’re happy the winner has discovered this exciting news.
“We’ll be sharing this update with all our customers, and no doubt, they’ll be thrilled for the winner.
“Congratulations to the winning woman. We’re so thrilled for her and hope she enjoys her million-dollar prize.
“We’d love to wish the new owner of Birallee Lotto good luck. Hopefully, this is the start of a winning streak, and they sell many more division one winning entries.”
