Bathurst man to give mum a helping hand with $2.3 million Lotto win
A Bathurst man is in contention for “Son of the Year” in 2022 with plans to use his $2.3 million Lotto win to treat his mum and give her a helping hand.
The Central Tablelands resident held one of the 17 division one winning entries across Australia in Lotto draw 4221 on Friday 31 December 2021. Each division one winning entry scored $2,352,941.18.
“I’ve been waiting for your call!” the man in his 40s laughed when we made contact to confirm his win on New Year’s Day.
“I checked my ticket last night, but I still managed to sleep alright.
“I was just at home, and others in the house were checking their tickets, so I thought I should check mine too.
“I hoped on the laptop, and at first, it didn’t really make sense to me. Then I realised I’d won division one!
“It’s been a whirlwind since.
“I usually play Set for Life, but just thought I’d grab a ticket into the Megadraw. I’m glad I did!
“It just makes things a whole lot easier.
“I don’t have a house of my own, but that might change this year.
“I also really want to help my mum. She’s done a lot for me and I want to make sure she’s looked after.”
The winner purchased his 50-game QuickPick entry online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
