Retirement beckons for hardworking Sunshine Coast couple following $1.7 million Gold Lotto win
A hardworking couple in their 60s from the Sunshine Coast have screamed with delight and plan to finally retire after winning division one in last night’s Saturday Gold Lotto $30 Million Megadraw.
The Sunshine Coast residents held one of the 17 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3907, drawn on Saturday 29 December 2018. Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,764,705.89.
When we rang the couple this morning to deliver the life-changing news, they cried out with joy.
“Oh f###ing hell!” the woman screamed.
“Oh my god! We never win anything!
“I can’t believe it! My mind is boggling.”
Despite the shock of the win, the couple were unanimous in how they would use their windfall.
“I only said to my husband yesterday ‘when do you think we might be able to retire.’ We’ve worked hard all our lives but retirement’s always been far away,” the winning woman said.
“We’ve got kids and grandchildren so we’re going to find an opportunity to help our family with this and also to finally enjoy retirement,” her husband added.
“But first we’re just going to sit down and have a cup of tea to take it all in!”
The winners, who to remain anonymous, purchased their 12-game QuickPick entry at Kawana News & Gifts, Shop 353, Kawana Shoppingworld, 119 Point Cartwright Road, Buddina.
Kawana News & Gifts owner Jono Milligan said he wished his latest winners all the very best with their prize.
“That’s fantastic news! We sold a division one winning syndicate in October in the last Superdraw so we are really on a roll. We can’t wait to do it again – they say things come in threes,” he said.
“Our winners will enjoy New Year’s Eve a little longer this year. Well dome to them!”
