A Rockhampton couple spent Saturday night glued to their Saturday Gold Lotto ticket after they checked their lottery numbers straight after the draw and discovered their $2 million win.

The Central Queenslanders held one of the 10 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4515, drawn Saturday 26 October 2024 and take home a neat $2 million.

The newly-minted millionaires were in the middle of school drop-off when they received the winning phone call confirming their newfound treasure.

“Woo-hoo! How exciting!” the winning husband laughed.

“We checked the ticket around 11.15pm on Saturday night and then we couldn’t get to sleep until 4am.

“It’s so exciting. I don’t know how to feel!

“We went to my parent’s place for dinner, and I said to my mum, ‘You know how I put on a ticket for Lotto last night?’, and she immediately replied with, ‘Were you one of the 10 winners?’.

“It’s funny how mum already knew what I was talking about.

“I play lotteries on and off. I can’t believe we’ve scored division one!

“Thank you so much.”

With a few extra zeros about to turbocharge their bank account, the dynamic duo wasted no time dreaming big with their multi-million-dollar prize.

“We will definitely see a financial advisor to help us out with all of the plans. Firstly, we will look to pay off the house, and then we’ll do some travelling!” the winning husband exclaimed.

“We would really love to finally go to Europe as a family. That would be a lot of fun!

“We will put aside some money for the kids too."

“I’d like to also pay off my HECS debt too,” the winning wife added.

“This is so exciting. So much to look forward to!”

Their winning 25-game QuickPick was purchased at Card & Paper Shop, Shop 066 Stockland, 61-331 Yaamba Road, North Rockhampton.

Card & Paper Shop owner Janet Dingley said she was esctatic to hear her outlet had sold a division one winning entry in the Saturday Gold Lotto $20 million Superdraw.

“We were very excited to sell a division one winning entry, and even better, it’s our first time selling a division one winning entry in a Saturday Lotto Superdraw event!” she said.

“The last time we sold a division one winning entry was in October 2021, so it’s really great to have another one. Since our doors first opened for business in 1982, we’ve sold nine division one entries.

“We wish our division one winner all the very best with this life-changing event. I’m sure they’re still coming down from the high of receiving this wonderful news!”
