Jimboomba father to share million-dollar Gold Lotto win with his children
A Jimboomba father is planning to give his children a kick start in life with his million-dollar prize from the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Logan resident held one of the three division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4229 on Saturday 29 January 2022 and takes home $1,937,217.66.
The ticket was unregistered, so officials we had no way of contacting the winner to break the news and had to wait for him to come forward to claim his prize.
“Thank you! I can’t believe it,” he laughed, when we could finally confirm his win.
“I’m a bit shocked, speechless actually. I went to check the ticket this morning, and the team member at the newsagency seemed a bit excited.
“That’s when I discovered I’d won a million-dollar prize. I didn’t react because I couldn’t believe it.
“I’ve been playing Saturday Gold Lotto for years, so it’s great to finally have a major lottery win!”
Despite more than a million dollars heading his way, the Queensland man said he had no plans of retiring just yet.
“I’ll continue to wake up and go to work. There’s only one way to keep me busy,” he said.
“I’m going to have to process this all, but I’ll definitely help my children out with the prize.”
His winning entry was purchased at Spar Express Marsden, Shop 7-9, Macarthy Road and Third Avenue, Marsden.
Spar Express Marsden owner Michael Al Shoomary said he was relieved his winner had discovered their exciting news.
“We’re happy to hear the winner has come forward to claim their prize!” he said.
“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold in over four years. It’s fantastic to see the win go to a local customer.
“Congratulations to our winner and we hope he enjoys his prize.”
