Nuriootpa mother mind-boggled by magical $530,000 Saturday X Lotto win
A Nuriootpa mother confessed she thought her local newsagency’s ticket scanner was broken when she checked her Saturday X Lotto ticket to reveal she’d scored a life-enhancing $530,000.
The South Australian held one of the 10 division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4277, drawn Saturday 16 July 2022 and takes home a total prize of $537,806.77.
The warm-hearted woman initially believed the ticket scanner at her local newsagency was telling her the incorrect information, but she was pleasantly proven wrong a few days later.
“Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!” she repeated.
“I’m glad I’m sitting down! I’m shaking!
“I checked my Saturday X Lotto ticket on Monday, and I thought the machine was telling me the wrong thing.
“So, I left it for a few days, and I went back to the newsagency today to check it again.
“The team member at Nuriootpa Newsagency said to me, ‘It’s a winner’ and I said, ‘Don’t do that to me!’
“They told me to immediately call The Lott head office, and now you’re telling me I’ve won division one?! I’ve won $537,000?! That’s fantastic!
“I’ve got to pinch myself – is this real?”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her good fortune, she shared it would go towards a couple of things.
“Oh, my goodness, I can pay off my mortgage and help my kids! It’s starting to sink in,” she exclaimed.
“I’ll probably look at buying a new car too! I’m not sure what type, but I’ll go down to the car yard and choose one!
“I’ve got to let my kids know tonight. They’re currently at work, so I can’t let them know now but I really want to!
“We will all celebrate together in the near future.”
Her winning entry was purchased at Nuriootpa Newsagency, Shops 18, Barossa Mall, 1 Murray Street.
Nuriootpa Newsagency owner Leah Mills said the team are feeling jubilant to have sold a division one winning entry to a local woman.
“We’re absolutely over the moon for the winner – what a life changer to win this amount!” she said.
“We live in such a great community here in the Barossa Valley, and I can just imagine everyone is so excited for the winner and for our outlet!
“It’s been four years since we’ve sold a division one winning entry. It’s the start to many more!
“We would love to have a glass of bubbles with our winner and wish them all the best with their prize!”
