“Sixth sense” leads Hemmant woman to $1.3 million Gold Lotto windfall
A Hemmant woman in her 30s had an election night she’ll never forget after the Saturday Gold Lotto ticket she bought at the last minute scored her a $1.3 million prize.
The Brisbane resident held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4261 on Saturday 21 May 2022. Each division one winning entry nabbed $1,393,369.77.
“I checked my ticket at about 8.31pm on Saturday. I’d only bought the ticket at 6.51pm,” she laughed when speaking with us this morning.
“I was just watching the election results and thought I would check my ticket. That’s when I saw six numbers in red in a row.
“I guess The Lott called the federal election for me – seeing all that red in a row.
“I thought, ‘no, that can’t be right’. I ran to the bedroom and woke up my husband screaming, ‘wake up, wake up now!’.
“He looked at it and looked at it. We’ve checked it a million times just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. We didn’t get any sleep after that.
“I told my sister. I was in hysterics and my sister was bawling – we were at complete opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of reactions. There was lots of emotion.”
The Queenslander shared she always knew she was going to win a major lottery prize one day.
“I had a sixth sense I was going to win Gold Lotto. I just had a feeling in my stomach,” she said.
“For some unknown reason, I just decided to buy the ticket. It was completely fluky. It was meant to be.
“This changes everything for us! It just takes a lot of stress off.
“We can pay off the bills and the mortgage. I want to help my family as well.”
The woman’s winning 18-game QuickPick entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
