A Smithton dad thought he was ‘in trouble’ when team members at his local newsagency asked him to step into a private room, only to reveal his TattsLotto ticket had won $3.75 million.

The Tasmanian held one of the eight division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4481, drawn Saturday 29 June 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $3.75 million.

“Oh my god!” he gasped.

“Thank you so much. I’m so happy.

“I can’t say anything – lost for words.”

The gleeful retiree was beside himself after discovering his newly minted millionaire status, prompting his son to step in and take over the winning call with lottery officials.

“Dad is just mute. He’s lost for words,” he laughed.

“He came into the local newsagency to put on his usual tickets, and he decided to check his old ticket while he was here.

“They scanned his ticket and then they asked him to go into the private room. He immediately thought he was in trouble.

“I then received a random call from him, and he said to me, “I won the Lotto! Come down to the store and I’ll show you!”

“We’re all just lost for words.

“It will be a huge help for the family.”

His winning entry was purchased at Smithton Newsagency, 49-51 Emmett Street, Smithton.

Smithton Newsagency owner Paul Bramich said he couldn’t be more excited to have a sold division one winning entry worth a sensational $3.75 million.

“We’re so pleased for our community, and we can’t imagine how life-changing it would be to win an amount like this,” he shared.

“We sold our last division one winning entry about seven or eight years ago, so this is an exciting time for us.

“We’re located in a small tight-knit community, and we just know this winning news would make a lot of people happy.

“We’re so glad to hear our winners have now come forward and they’ll be able to start celebrating their life-changing win. We wish them all the best and congratulate them on this achievement!”
