Superstitious Dromana woman credits ‘lucky tradition’ for her $678,000 TattsLotto win!
A Dromana woman believes following a “lucky tradition” of lighting a green candle, eating dark chocolate and declaring “I am lucky” prior to buying a lottery ticket, led her to her TattsLotto win on the weekend.
The winning customer held one of the nine division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4123, drawn Saturday 23 January 2021. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize worth $678,308.17.
When we called the winner this morning to break the news, the Victorian woman couldn’t contain her excitement.
“Oh my lord! Oh my lord! You are an angel!” she cried happily.
“I can’t breathe. I only just woke up! I can’t believe this.
“I need to sit down and let this news sink in. This is such a wonderful surprise!
“I always joke that I am going to win the lottery, but now it’s happened. It’s crazy.
“I am shaking, I am shaking so much. This is such a weird feeling!
“I have this little tradition when I buy lottery tickets that I was told would bring me luck. It’s a lucky tradition!
“I light a green candle, eat a piece of dark chocolate, and then I say, ‘I am lucky!’ and then I go and buy my lottery ticket!
“Now I really do feel lucky. This is phenomenal!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the thrilled winner admitted the win would make a huge difference.
“This is a life-changing win for my family,” she shared.
“I am going to pay off the mortgage, buy a new car and help my family.”
The winning marked 18-game entry was purchased at Dromana Hub Lotto, Shop 7, Dromana Hub Shopping Centre, Point Nepean Road, Dromana.
Dromana Hub Lotto owner Janine Fancett said the outlet had been patiently waiting to sell another division one winning entry.
“It’s great news,” she said.
“Last year we sold the $80 million Powerball entry at our other outlet, so we were hoping to sell a big one at this outlet this year.
“We are so happy for the winner and hope she can do something great with her prize.
“It was a really tough year last year, so I can imagine it came as a great surprise.”
