Murray Bridge man scores cool $1 million from X Lotto ticket languishing on fridge door
A Saturday X Lotto ticket left languishing on the fridge door has yielded a Murray Bridge man in his 20s a cool $1 million.
The South Australian player held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4121 on Saturday 16 January 2021. Each division one winning entry scored $1,052,281.12.
Speaking with us this morning to confirm his prize, the flabbergasted winner admitted to being overwhelmed by the million-dollar revelation.
“This is pretty good!” he laughed.
“My mum checked the ticket online after hearing about a mystery winner on the radio.
“The ticket’s just been sitting on the fridge!
“I was so surprised when she showed me, but I think she was more excited than me. I just had to see if it was really true first.
“My first priority is to help my mum – help her pay off the mortgage. I want to invest the rest and set myself up for the future.
“I’m definitely thinking about treating myself too – maybe a trip overseas when we can travel again.”
The winning entry was purchased at Murray Bridge Newsagency & Gifts, Shop 6, 20 Bridge Street, Murray Bridge.
Murray Bridge Newsagency & Gifts owner Adrian Pergallini said it was great to see a big win go to a local.
“It’s nice for the shop to have sold that ticket. We have sold three in previous years from the other shop, but we’ve since moved location. It’s great to have a big win in the new shop in the new location,” he said.
“News of big wins like this move around town very quickly – the power of Facebook and the gossip trail. Everyone’s been excited with anticipation to see if they’re the mystery winner.
“We wish our latest winner all the very best and can’t wait to have another division one winner again soon!”
