New carpet for the new year: Corowa woman plans home makeover with million-dollar Lotto prize
Armed with a million-dollar Lotto win, a Corowa woman is planning a new year’s home makeover, starting with the carpet.
The New South Wales resident held the only division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4143 on Wednesday 29 December 2021. She scored $1 million.
“A million dollars sounds great!” the happy woman explained when confirming her win with us this morning.
“I was tired last night and went to bed, but I opened my bedside drawer and saw this ticket, so thought I’d check it.
“I thought, ‘that can’t be right. It must be my eyes’. I thought maybe I’d won a big division, but had to get my family to check it for me.
“Well, I haven’t slept a wink since.
“A million dollars sure sounds great!”
The winning mum explained there was one chore she was happy to temporarily ditch now that she was a newly-minted millionaire.
“There will be no cooking tonight,” she laughed.
“In fact, I think I’ll take two weeks off from cooking.
“I also want to get new carpet for the house and help the kids out as well.”
The winning entry was purchased at Gyles Newsagency, 65 Sanger Street, Corowa.
Gyles Newsagency owner Sandra Dunn said she was celebrating her outlet’s first division one win in six years.
“We’ve sold three division one winning entries since 1990, the last one in January 2016. It’s exciting that one of our customers has had a win, especially at this time of year,” she said.
“All our staff get excited when we sell a major prize and hope that they will sell the next big winner.
“I want to thank our latest winner for supporting us and congratulate them on their win. All the very best!”
