A Keperra man has thanked a dreaded trip to the dentist for his million-dollar win, explaining he kept his extracted tooth as a lucky charm and bought a lottery ticket to cheer himself up.

The Queensland player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3974, drawn Monday 18 May 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.

Confirming his life-changing news with us this morning, the winner revealed he’d only just checked his ticket, days after the draw.

“It’s such a funny and strange story,” he began to explain.

“I had a tooth pulled out on Monday and I really didn’t want to get it out.

“I was so upset about it so I decided to keep the tooth in a little pouch for good luck.

“So I made sure I bought a lottery ticket after my trip to the dentist with my new lucky charm to cheer myself up.

“And there you go! I win!

“It’s just magical. Absolutely magical.

“I’m pinching myself. It’s so hard to believe this is true.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his million-dollar windfall, the hardworking man said it would take all his financial stress away.

“I’m a simple man. I don’t need to much,” he said.

“I’ll keep working and I will pay off my house so I have the security of never having to worry about a mortgage repayment.

“And then I will help out my family.

“It’s massively life-changing for me. This is huge!”

The million-dollar winning entry was purchased at Supanews Keperra, Shop 5A Great Western Super Centre, 1028 Samford Road, Keperra.

Supanews Keperra owner Mike Walter said he was thrilled his winner had finally checked their ticket.

“We’ve now sold seven division one winning entries since 2013 but this is the first for Monday Gold Lotto,” he explained.

“Most of our division one winners have been locals and regular customers, so we hope this one is too.

“It’s always such a thrill to share the excitement with the winner and our customers too are enthusiastic about a local win, as it brings that dream of winning so close to home.

“Congratulations to them!”
