Social media helps unite Ipswich couple with $1 million Saturday Gold Lotto win
An Ipswich couple has come forward this morning to claim their million-dollar Gold Lotto win, explaining they only checked their ticket after seeing a Facebook post about a mystery winner.
The Queenslanders held one of the five division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4225, drawn Saturday 15 January 2022 – pocketing $1,184,980.49.
Confirming their win with our team this morning, the winning woman revealed they were still coming to terms with the life-changing discovery.
“Oh my god! It’s truly a blessing,” she happily laughed.
“We were looking through Facebook last night and saw a post about an unregistered division one winning entry purchased in Flinders View.
“I thought to myself, ‘I better check our ticket!’ That’s when I discovered we were newly made millionaires! I can’t believe it! It’s so overwhelming!
“We’re in a state of shock. Is this a dream? Our reality still hasn’t set.
“This has made our day - our entire lives!
“Thank you! Thank you!
“You always dream about what you might do if you eventually win the lottery, but once it happens, you really can’t think!
“It will definitely help my family and I. We’re feeling very grateful and blessed.”
Their life-changing entry was purchased at Winston Glades News, Shop 9, Winston Glades Shopping Centre, Ash Street, Flinders View.
Winston Glades News owner Nathan Boyland said the team were happy to see the division one prize claimed by a local.
“It’s the first division one winning entry we’ve sold in over 10 years. It’s an amazing milestone for the business,” he said.
“We can just imagine the prize would be life-changing for our customer! What a fantastic way to start the new year.
“Congratulations to our winner, and we wish them all the best for the years to come.”
