Warner man’s brotherly banter turns into million-dollar Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto reality
A Warner man who joked with his brother about being the mystery winner lottery officials had been searching for was floored to discover he had indeed scored $1 million in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto.
The Moreton Bay resident held one of the two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4357, drawn Wednesday 17 January 2024 and took home $1 million.
The winning entry was not registered to a player card, which meant we had no way of notifying the winner of their life-changing win and were waiting for them to check their ticket.
A post on his local Facebook community group promoted the Queenslander to check his ticket.
“I’m in shock. I don’t even know where to start,” he laughed.
“I bought the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket with my daughter on Wednesday, and she said to me, ‘No one ever wins on these things, Dad!’.
“I said to her, ‘Well someone must win! You have to be in it to win it.”.
“I got sent a screenshot of a Facebook post from our local community group by my brother. I sent him a message back and said, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if it was me?’.
“I decided to check the ticket after our conversion and the million-dollar win came up on my phone.
“I couldn’t believe it. I think I’ve scanned it for a total of 17 times today.
“Thank you so much.”
When asked how 2024 might unfold with a million-dollar win under his belt, the doting dad shared he was too stunned to make any immediate concrete plans.
“I’m honestly not too sure. We do have a holiday coming up and this will definitely boost our plans!” he said.
“We will no doubt be celebrating tonight.”
His winning entry was purchased at Nextra Warner, Shop 14, Warner Village Shopping Centre, 353 Samsonvale Road, Warner.
