21 Clayfield locals and business owners celebrate multi-million-dollar Gold Lotto win
Twenty-one Clayfield locals and small business owners are rejoicing after discovering their 32-year-old syndicate won a multi-million-dollar prize in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Queensland entry was one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4037 on Saturday 28 March 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize of $2,819,795.84.
In addition to scoring the coveted prize, the syndicate’s marked System 11 entry also scored division two 6 times, division three 24 times, division four 150 times and division five 120 times, boosting their total win to $2,907,017.24.
Each member of the syndicate takes home a total prize of $138,429.39.
The winning syndicate was sold at Eagle Junction Newsagency, 272 Junction Road, Clayfield.
Eagle Junction Newsagency owner Bruce Cannell said it was heart-warming to break the good news to his loyal customers.
“Could you believe that syndicate has been running for 32 years?” he exclaimed.
“We’ve been playing the same numbers every week!
“Nineteen of the 21 syndicate members play every single week, one of the original blokes is still in it as well.
“All the winners are locals and just about all of them know now! They were all so happy to share it with each other.”
Mr Cannell explained some of the syndicate members were small business owners from the local area who had recently been forced to shut their doors.
“There are certainly a few battlers at the moment during this tough time,” he said.
“We’ve got some small business owners from the local area who are in it. This will be enough to keep them afloat during the hard times.
“One man told me he will finally be able to retire because of this prize.
“There are plenty of good stories to tell! It’s fantastic!
“It’s a perfect result and it’s going to make a huge difference to everyone’s life!”
