Canberra dad cashes in with Lotto division one win
A Canberra man says he’s had the shock of his life, cashing in some winning scratchies only to discover a much larger lottery prize has made him a millionaire.
The ACT player held one of the five division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4161, drawn Saturday 5 June 2021. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,172,770.07.
Confirming his prize with us, the newly-minted millionaire explained he’d just checked his ticket at home.
“I still can’t believe it!” he exclaimed.
“Thank you very much for that. Thank you.
“I don’t know how I feel! I’m still in shock.
“I had a couple of wins on a scratchie so I went down to the newsagency to cash them in and they told me they were looking for a division one winner from the weekend.
“I got them to print off the winning numbers and I went home and checked my ticket.
“It’s unbelievable. I cannot believe that it’s me!”
When asked how he imagined life as a millionaire, the Canberra dad said things were about to get a whole lot easier.
“I’m going to have to do a little bit of thinking,” he said.
“It will make life a lot easier and it’s going to be great to be able to help the kids!”
His life-changing 12-game QuickPick entry was purchased at newsXpress Kippaz Fair, Shop 25 - 27, Kippax Fair Shopping Centre, 24-48 Hardwick Crescent, Holt.
newsXpress Kippaz Fair manager Douglas Wilson said it was the first division one winning entry the outlet had sold.
“Wow! We hope this has gone to one of our regulars,” he said.
“We are all excited for the winner, even though we wish it were us.
“Congratulations to them! We hope they really enjoy their prize.”
